About the Author
Matthew Scarpino is an engineer with more than 12 years of experience designing hardware and software. He has a Master’s Degree in electrical engineering and is an Advanced Certified Interconnect Designer (CID+). He currently resides in Massachusetts where he develops software for embedded systems. In his spare time, he uses EAGLE to design accessories for his Android smartphone and the Google Glass.

This has potential, but alot of errors!

If your brand new to Eagle this book would have you very frustrated. There are alot of errors. The author really needs to correct the errors and get a new Kindle version out. I would not recommend buying this book. I have checked the website for erratas and there are none. Does this author care? Work thru the tutorials at Sparkfun and you will learn Eagle.

Matbe the 2nd edition will be better

Good try, but the books has several big errors such as an inverting amplifier that is completely wrong. Also, the description of multilayer boards was incorrect. I was disappointed chapter on creating libraries and components. This is one of the most difficult aspects of Eagle, and the chapter was no better or deeper than CadSoft's tutorial. Creating a vacuum tube device? Creating gates and packages is fine, but I would much rather seen a good example of creating a multi-gated device reusing gates and packaging already defined in Eagle libraries. Reusing gates and packages already defined is what most of us do.

Great beginner book but needs more refinement

I love the book generally. It is well written and easy to understand and follow. It's a perfect starting point for Eagle beginners like me. I do agree with some of the other reviews though. Especially the last chapter about the complex Beagle Board should have been much longer and detailed. It's essentially just barely brushing on the topics without going into much detail. A complete example like the very good middle section of the book for the Femtoduino would have been great.
Overall I can still greatly recommend this book to anyone that has never touched Eagle (or PCB design) before. I'll give the second edition 5 stars if it fixes the above.
