Sex, drugs and rock 'n roll in 1970's South Africa

Very wild, very funny and sometimes a little sad.
This is a very unique look at life the hippy/glam era through the eyes of a young rock drummer growing up in a dysfunctional family in a dysfunctional country. Determined not to shoot children and friends in the name of apartheid in the South African army, Erich Rautenbach goes underground and becomes a part-time marijuana dealer and a full-time fugitive.
The writing is great with the language and slang of the mid-70's street culture ringing through the whole book. The characters are colourful and larger-than-life including 20-year-old Erich and Bridget the 17-year-old massage parlour madame.
This book will appeal to those who lived through that time and want to re-visit that era, plus all those who love a good rebel seeking a way to spite the system.
Destined to become a cult classic? Quite possibly, and certainly for me.

Should be a cult classic

Interesting, insightful, pacey, funny, hip without being irritating. A great read and it happens to be true (or one person's memory of the truth) too. Thoroughly recommend it to everyone.
