About the Author
Dr Andrew Mitchell is a Consultant Cardiologist in Jersey, Channel Islands, and is an Honorary Consultant at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He has special interests in non-invasive imaging, with particular expertise in transoesophegeal and intracardiac echocardiography. Other interests include the role of device therapy for arrhythmia management. Paul Leeson studied Medicine at St Andrews and Cambridge before moving to Oxford for Cardiology training. He is now a British Heart Foundation Fellow at the University of Oxford with a clinical research programme that studies the development of cardiovascular disease. Dr West is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, formerly Consultant Cardiologist at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Dr West trained in interventional cardiology in Oxford and in Auckland, New Zealand; research leading to award of MD degree with prizes by the University of Cambridge was performed at Duke University, North Carolina and the University of Oxford. His specialist interests include percutaneous coronary intervention, diabetic coronary disease and saphenous vein graft disease. Dr Adrian Banning has been a Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital since 1999. He is an interventional cardiologist, interested in research into the use of drug eluting stents, left main coronary artery disease and mechanisms of myocardial injury during PCI. Dr Banning is a former council member of the British Cardiolovascular Intervention Society.

This is an excellent reference book for Cardiac Cath Lab professionals. Quick and easy to use with succinct descriptions and explanations. This book is not meant for lay people to understand their procedures.

Excellent basics

As a lay person, I was hoping for more of a generalized explanation that would be useful to persons facing cardiac catheterization and/or intervention. If that is your purpose, this is the wrong book for you. It appears to contain essential medical information of which practitioners should be aware. On the other hand, if I am facing such a procedure, I don't want it done by a cardiologist who still needs this book for reference. That being said, the content of the book was excellent.
